Kendal- – Kendal Business Directory

I have just listed Andy Levy Wood Sculptor on Kendal-i – Kendal Business Directory. It just helps when trying to find my details and also benefits this site as well.

You can sign up at Kendal-i and leave reviews, so if I have completed work for you in the past I would be grateful if you could leave a review. It helps others when they are looking for quotes and gives them an idea of my service.

The link is above to my page but if you forget just punch in kendal-i into a search engine and search the site for me.

The Westmorland Gazette have  run an article on the Parr Throne (Publication 1st March) It’s great to get the publicity on the Parr Throne and hopefully those visiting the Parr Throne will sign up to the site and give some feedback.  It would be nice to keep a record of those who have seen it and even better if they could post to their walls on Facebook to show the world. I will be adding a reference to the piece being run by the Gazette in the next few days, you will be able to find it here

Just been running through things with WebSitu The site is going to pass to me within the next week. I will be trying out different things so please bear (bare – opps! no he’s not doing this naked.  Thanks for pointing this out Mr S, appreciated) with me.

Feeling Good

Just thought I would take the opportunity to give a little background on the site.  It’s hoped that once we get Andy up to speed with things that the site will become a useful resource for those who gain pleasure from viewing wood carvings and for Andy to keep a record of work undertaken.  Plus it will provide him with opportunity to record some of the history behind individual pieces.  I know that he finds the technology rather daunting, however it’s now a necessary requirement, so fingers crossed!

The core of the design of the site revolves around high quality graphics, so at the moment the site is a little lacking in many areas.  That’s not a criticism of Andy, he’s taken lots of photographs but often failing to pay attention to what he is focusing on and with a poor quality camera. So the poor lad has now had a lecture on what to do and more importantly what not to do. This should mean that the site improves graphically over the coming months as Andy takes more shots of his work.

I hope you find the site easy to navigate and use and that it provides all the information that you require, if it falls short in any area please let Andy know. I know that he is keen to make the site very active and I am sure he will feed back any alterations which he feels the site needs.

Last but not least if you have any shots or videos of Andy’s work and you are happy to donate them to be used on the site please forward them to Andy.

Thanks for your time and please enjoy your viewing

Websitu – Website Design and Hosting

The site is still in development mode and therefore full control has not passed to Andy so he isn’t able to provide details on the Parr Throne that he is carving in Fletcher Park. I can only give a little information but hopefully if you have landed here through seeing this Throne being carved you will either sign up to the newsletter (can be found in the footer section) or “like us” on facebook.

The throne takes many parts of Kendals history and brings them together in the Throne. Some of the carvings are replicas of carvings that can be found in Kendal others are creations of Andy himself. Already the Throne is attracting great interest and Andy is always happy to chat with those who are passing by and show an interest in his work.

Just in the process of creating a throne from a 100 year old beach tree which came down in the high winds latter part of 2011 in Fletcher Park Kendal. It was a very imposing beech tree and given that it left a very useable stump permission was granted to bring new life to the tree in the form of a carving.

The throne is based upon many aspects of Kendal’s heritage and it is hoped that it will be embraced and trasured by the Kendal population. I am creating a diary of the work completed to the throne which will be added to the news section once the throne is completed. If anyone reading this has a photograph of the tree after it came down I would really like a copy to add to the record.

Did you build a tree house with your friends? Did you enjoy the hours of having your own place (even though you were only 10/11). It appears that a local resident of Hincaster contraviened planning law by building one.

Our next generation of craftsman will not be developing the necessary skills that are learnt through such recreational activities. Simple problem solving, understanding sequences of events and a whole host of skills that we take for granted are developed through play. Building tree houses should be encouraged in everyway possible!

If you are visiting from caftywood then you will have noticed that the new address is now www.andylevywoodsculptor.com

Searching for Craftywood will now re direct you to this site and all links out on the web will do the same. The reason for the change is to aid those who were searching for me by name and by changing to my name and profession it will allow me to be found more easily.
